The KP method reads the timing of the move. Changing residence is a matter for houses 3, 9 and 12, and the period in which the planets linked to them are active in your chart is when the move has an open path. Choosing the place comes from your practical life, and testing the routine helps a lot with that part.
With both answers in hand, the when from the chart and the where from the routine, the decision gains solid ground.
The houses of moving in KP
KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) is the method of the Indian astrologer K. S. Krishnamurti. It reads each subject through a set of houses and through their significators, the planets that connect to those houses by their position and by the star they are in.
For transfers and changes of residence, Krishnamurti says to examine houses 3, 9 and 12 (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader III, p. 378). House 3 has a neat logic: it governs change of residence because it comes right before house 4, the house of home (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader II, p. 281). In the book, the house right before another marks the end of that subject. That is why leaving your current home shows up in the chart through house 3.
When the move comes because of work, a transfer for example, these houses should also connect to house 6 or 10, the houses of service and profession.
Moving to another city and living abroad are different readings
Moving to another city in Brazil and going to live in another country have different houses in the method:
| Move | Houses KP examines | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Changing residence or city | 3, 9 and 12 | KP Reader III, p. 378 |
| Leaving the homeland and living abroad | 9 and 12 | KP Reader III, p. 319 |
| Living abroad to study | 12, adding 9 | KP Reader III, p. 317 |
| Living abroad to work | 12, adding 6 and 10 | KP Reader III, p. 317 |
That is why Vedik's 2027 Report (available in Portuguese) has two separate chapters: "Home: moving to another city" and "Living or studying abroad." Each one has its own answer and its own window.
The timing: dasha, bhukti and antara
Knowing which houses count is the start. The when comes from the periods.
KP uses the Vimshottari period system. The dasha is the major period, the bhukti is the sub-period within it and the antara is the next division. The move happens in the period in which these levels are ruled by significators of the houses of moving, with transit confirming (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader VI, p. 186).
In practice, the answer comes as a window by month and year: the stretch in which your chart favors the move and what that stretch calls for in terms of attention.
Take the Tuesday test
The chart says when. You choose the place by looking at the life you will lead there. A practical way to do this is the Tuesday test.
Pick an ordinary day and describe both versions: life where you are and life at the destination.
- How do you wake up and how long does it take to get to work?
- Where do you work and with whom?
- Who do you see without having to plan a trip?
- What do you do after work?
- Who do you turn to when you need help?
Include the daily life nobody photographs: the grocery store, the noise, the rain, the bills, the household chores. That is where the move holds up.
If you can, spend some time at the destination living like a resident. Work from there, go shopping, sit in rush-hour traffic. That experience brings up questions a vacation visit hides.
How to ask the method
A good question has a subject and a time frame: "which months of 2027 favor moving to another city?" If the move comes with a job, say so, because the houses of work come into the reading. If the destination is another country, the question is a different one, with houses 9 and 12 at the center.
Put the two answers together. An open window in the chart and a destination that passed the Tuesday test make a well-prepared decision. The reading gives the context of the moment, and the last word is always yours.
