In KP, a business partner is a matter of the 7th house, the house of business partners and of everyone you sign an agreement with. For the business itself, the method looks at houses 2, 7 and 10. The period when they are active in your chart is when opening or closing the partnership has a path.
The chart reads the timing and what each chart promises for the business. The partner's character and competence you assess through the facts, in their work history and in conversation.
The houses of partnership in KP
KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) is the method of the Indian astrologer K. S. Krishnamurti. It reads each matter through a set of houses and their significators, the planets connected to those houses by position and by the star they occupy.
Krishnamurti describes the 7th house as the one that shows the trade or business partner and the degree of success that comes from that partnership. The same house covers everyone you enter into a contract or agreement with (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader II, p. 295).
For business, his rule is to judge houses 2, 7 and 10 (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader III, p. 362):
| House | What it shows in business | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | What you earn through your own effort | KP Reader III, p. 362 |
| 7 | Clients and partners | KP Reader III, p. 362 |
| 10 | The profession | KP Reader VI, p. 275 |
When the question is how long a partnership will last, the starting point is also the 7th house. In a case from Reader III, a partner asks about the duration of the firm, and Krishnamurti opens the analysis with the seventh house (p. 307).
The period decides the phase
On the same page, Krishnamurti reminds us that you need to look at the period the person is living. Within the same major period, one sub-period can bring employment, another can be stagnant, another can bring one's own business and another gains (KP Reader III, p. 362).
That is why the question "should I open the partnership?" also calls for a "when". The major period of the Vimshottari system is the dasha, and the sub-period inside it is the bhukti. The window when they are ruled by significators of the business houses is the stretch when signing has a path.
What the Business Combination reads
Vedik's Business Combination crosses your chart with another person's: a partner, someone you are thinking of hiring or a collaborator. It shows where the partnership opens a path and what calls for attention, in two dimensions:
- Business: whether each chart promises entrepreneurship and closing deals.
- Prosperity: whether each chart promises earning money.
The reading works both ways. When both charts promise the same dimension, the partnership has a foundation there. When only one promises it, the reading shows which of the two charts sustains that dimension. The combination costs 10 credits, apart from the ones your plan already includes.
The chart reads the period, the facts show the person
The combination shows what each chart promises for the business. Honesty and competence are outside it. You learn those from the track record: how the person met deadlines, how they handled money in previous projects, what former colleagues say.
Use the reading to choose the moment to sign and to know which topics are worth discussing. Never to label someone. If something bothersome has already happened, describe the fact. "We missed the last deadline we agreed on" opens a fair conversation.
The conversation before the contract
Some questions help turn the reading into an agreement:
| Topic | Question for the conversation |
|---|---|
| Decision | Who decides when you disagree on a priority? |
| Money | How much does each person put in, when, and what happens if it runs short? |
| Time | How many hours a week will each person dedicate? |
| Exit | How does someone leave the partnership, and who buys their share? |
The answers go into the partnership agreement, with the help of an accountant or a lawyer. In Brazil, Sebrae has free material on how to choose partners and organize expectations.
When the chart calls for attention
Sometimes the chart shows a path for the business and also something that calls for attention, which tends to appear in another period. Vedik says this in concrete terms. For business, the sentence is "Attention: the business may lose money." Along with it comes what to consider: if there are plans to expand, calculate how much you can lose without compromising your finances. Knowing ahead lets you prepare, start smaller and build a reserve before growing.
