In the KP method, "when will I get married?" is answered with a period: the stretch of months when the planets tied to marriage are active at the same time in your chart. The method looks at houses 2, 7 and 11 and searches for when they light up together. The answer comes in month and year, with what the period favors and what calls for attention.
Behind the question there is usually another one: "is the life I want on my path?". The reading answers with what the method indicates for your chart, clearly, and leaves the decision with you.
First, define the event
Getting married can mean many things. Meeting someone, making a relationship official, moving in together and formalizing the union are events that can fall at different times.
The more precise the question, the clearer the answer. "When is the path open for me to formalize a union?" calls for one reading. "When will I meet someone?" calls for another.
That is why Vedik's 2027 Report (available only in Portuguese) splits the subject into two chapters: "Love: living a romance" and "Love: commitment and marriage". A good period for living a romance has its own reading. Commitment has its own.
The houses of marriage in KP
KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) is the method of the Indian astrologer K. S. Krishnamurti. It divides the chart into twelve houses, and each house begins at a cusp, the exact point where it opens (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader I, p. 52).
For marriage, the method examines three houses:
- House 2: the family, the household that grows
- House 7: the contract, the partnership taken on
- House 11: lasting friendship, the wish that comes true
In Krishnamurti's own words, houses 2, 7 and 11 show whether marriage is promised (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader III, p. 300). The planets connected to these houses, by position and by the star they occupy, are the significators of marriage. The article on house significators shows how they are chosen.
The sub of the 7th cusp
The finest piece of KP is the sub-lord. Each star of the zodiac is divided into nine unequal parts, in proportion to each planet's years in the period system (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader VI, p. 76). The planet that rules the part where the cusp falls is the sub-lord of that house.
The sub-lord of the 7th cusp carries a lot of weight in the marriage question. Krishnamurti's rule is direct: see which sub the 7th cusp falls in and whether the ruler of that sub is one of the significators of marriage (K. S. Krishnamurti, Astrology and Athrishta, Sept. 1967, pp. 11 and 12). If it is, the chart shows a path to commitment.
The book also names the opposite side: houses 1, 6, 10 and 12. The logic is elegant. The house right before another, the 12th counted from it, marks the end of that matter, and 1, 6 and 10 sit right before 2, 7 and 11. When the sub of the 7th cusp also connects to them, the method reads both sides, each in its own period. In his words, one result does not cancel the other (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader IV, p. 180).
At Vedik, this opposite side shows up as something that calls for attention. The answer says THE CHART SHOWS A PATH. and notes that the chart also shows something that tends to appear in another period. Each item says who and what may happen, such as "Attention: building a family life may be harder.", along with what to consider. Knowing ahead lets you prepare. The reading describes a configuration of the chart within a slice of time. Your life remains bigger than any slice.
The timing: dasha, bhukti and antara
Knowing whether the chart shows a path to commitment is half the reading. The other half is the when.
KP uses the Vimshottari period system. The dasha is the major period, the bhukti is the sub-period inside it and the antara is the next division. The event happens in the period when these levels are ruled by significators of the matter, and transit confirms it (K. S. Krishnamurti, KP Reader VI, p. 186).
In practice, what you receive is a window: "the turn opens in [month/year]", with what the period favors.
When the year shows no window
The 2027 Report opens each chapter with a short answer. There are four: "THE CHART SHOWS A PATH.", "THE CHART DOES NOT SHOW A PATH.", "A YEAR OF WAITING." and "NO CONCLUSION.".
"A YEAR OF WAITING." means the chart shows a path to commitment and 2027 does not bring the favorable period. The chapter says when the next one begins and what is worth preparing until then. "THE CHART DOES NOT SHOW A PATH." comes without months: the method does not say what the year's periods do in a matter the chart does not show, and the decision follows the facts of your case. The strip of months covers 2027. The rest of your life stays outside it.
How to use the answer
If there is a window, plan with it. Important conversations, decisions about moving in together and ceremony dates benefit when they fall in a period the method favors.
If the year shows no window, keep living. Meet people, take care of the relationships you have and watch what happens. The reading gives context to your choices. The last word is always yours.
